A full set of high-quality strings for a 61-63* string concert Chernihiv bandura with a retuning mechanism. This set is for chromatic basses, which are by far the most common setup when you have a mechanism, as this allows you to easily play basses in any of the keys.
* We include strings for the most common customizations: a 13th bass tuned to low C and a 50th prystrunka tuned to high A
⚠️⚠️ These strings require tuning pin swaps ⚠️⚠️ The 9-10 thickest bass tuning pins (bass pin numbers 5-13) should be removed and replaced with Large-Hole Tuning Pins. This is an easy swap and only needs to be done once!
You may be wondering why these are so much more expensive than other bandura string sets available online. Those cheaper strings are made of lower quality materials and are infamous for the windings getting torn up and causing “buzzing” sounds when playing, as you can see in the picture below:
The cheaper strings are typically made of 80/20 bronze, which become dull sounding more quickly. These are phosphor-bronze, which will retain their brightness for longer, so you don’t need to replace your strings as often.
All strings are loop-end, which means that they will work with a standard Chernihiv bandura without needing to remove a ball from the end of the string. This significantly simplifies the stringing process compared with using regular guitar strings.
Extras of the most commonly broken strings are included, for a total of 55 + 21 extra = 76 strings.
Each gauge is packaged in a separate bag for easy access:
